Ömheten (Broken Hill Blues)
Directed by Sofia Norlin
Sweden 2013
Swedish, 80 min
Kiruna, a small mining community in Northern Sweden. A group of youngsters about to take the leap in the adult age fight with themselves and the world around, while the ground literally trembles under their feet. Starring rising stars Lina Leandersson (Let The Right One In) and Sebatian Hiort af Örnäs (Sebbe), Broken Hill Blues (Ömheten) is the stunning debut feature of Sofia Norlin, which drew comparisons to the likes of Jan Troell, Terence Malick ans Claire Denis.
The film was the first to be awarded with the Woman Filmmakers Grant from the Stockholm Film Festival and it premiered at the films festivals in Berlin and Tribeca.
"Sofia Norlin achieves an extraordinary sense of place in this impressive, minimalist debut" (Variety)
"Marks out Sofia Norlin as a promising voice" (The Hollywood Reporter)
